Self Aligning Bearings
Self aligning bearings have two rows of balls. Both rows of balls rotate, in parallel, within the spherical raceway in the outer ring, as a result, this allows an excellent alignment compensation, caused by machining and mounting errors between the shaft and housing. Self-aligning ball bearings have the lowest friction of all rolling bearings, so are capable of running cooler at higher temperatures. They are suitable for applications where considerable shaft misalignment is to be expected. They are also suitable for low to medium radial loads and low amounts of thrust forces.
